GEORGIA STRAIGHT BUILDING

An excellent example of an extensive building redevelopment where a tired 1950's medical/dental building was transformed into a modern office space housing the Georgia Straight.  Significant seismic and code upgrades were required along with additional on-site parking.  The additional parking was created by constructing a new below grade parkade beneath the depth of the existing building.  To maximize land use to current FSR standards a new fourth floor was constructed to showcase the view of the downtown core and north shore mountains.  Construction Management was used in combination with an excellent design by Sproule & Associates to maintain heritage features while providing a cohesive finished product. 
 
Completed in 2006 at a cost of $4.05M.
